Today I got a call from one of my friends asking if I would be able to develop his new E-commerce site by the end of this year (it is October 28). Being asked that question I just thought about writing short article about “Finding right web development company”, so here there is few tips I would check before building my new site, especially E-commerce as quality traffic is a must.
Seo expertise – it is very crucial so chosen web development company has seo experience as you do not want to make mistakes and you want to make sure everything is done properly, non breaking any search engine guidelines yet having clean / crawlable design structure. Most of companies these days advertise doing seo and web development, how do I check if they actually do have this knowledge The simplest way is by checking their homepage meta tag and try finding those keywords using Google. If they do not come up among top results that means this is not the company you have been looking for.
Content is the king – we all know that content is the thing that rules on the web today, having said that make sure your “company” will include content development in their proposal or will simply tutor you how you should write for the web yourself
Previous customers – browse through “companys” portfolio and actually check if their previous projects do rank in search engines, make a contact with them and ask if they are happy how their website works
Avoid flash – this one is old but keep in mind that flash designed websites are simply not search engine friendly. Never create splash page having only animated graphics as this will prevent your website from proper indexing
